I have a thing for St. Patrick’s Day crafts and decorating, not that I’m Irish (my hubby has Irish heritage) which means does Steph too. The real reason is that it’s my birthday too! Don’t you just love this St. Patrick’s Day Shamrock Wreath! I would love to share how to make this inexpensive and quick Irish decor.
Yes, I was born on St. Patrick’s Day, in fact my grandma thought my name should be Patricia. However, every year when my birthday would roll around I would always get a new green outfit to wear to school. Clearly my mom didn’t want me to get pinched on my birthday. 😜 Even though green is not my favorite color, it has always been fun to sprinkle around a little Irish green to celebrate my birthday as well as the holiday.

We started off with the 3 wire heart wreath forms that we found at Dollar Tree. Then we found the Kelly green burlap on the clearance rack at Hobby Lobby for a whopping $2 per yard. We bought 1 yard, so the project was a total of $5. The only other supplies needed are craft wire and hot glue which we had on hand.

Begin by connecting the 3 heart wreath frames with craft wire. It is connected at every cross bar.
Step 2: Cut Burlap
Cut the green burlap into 3” strips. To make quick work of this, we pulled out the rotary cutter and mat. However, if you don’t have a rotary cutter scissors work great too.

Step 3: Wrap Burlap Around Heart Forms
Begin in the center where the 3 hearts connect to attach the burlap. At this time wrap the burlap around all the connecting hearts. We used hot glue to secure it when adding a new strip of burlap.
Next, begin wrapping the burlap around one of the hearts. We found that it looked better to push the burlap between the 2 connected hearts, so it has the look of 3 individual hearts. In order to push the burlap between the wire, we found a butter knife worked great in this narrow area. This was the most challenging part of the entire craft.
Continue wrapping all the way around to complete the heart, using hot glue to secure a new strip of burlap.

Here is another photo showing the burlap getting threaded in between the wire of the 2 connecting hearts. It does fray a bit, but that just gives it character!
Once the entire shamrock is wrapped in the green burlap, we folded a strip in half, using hot glue and attached it to the back of the shamrock for the stem. This is a quick and easy St. Patrick’s Day wreath that will add a little Irish flare to your home.
We hung our Shamrock Wreath on a vintage window and clipped on 2 of our FREE St. Patrick’s Day Printables!
