- Metal can (I used an empty can of mushrooms)
- Sand
- Rocks
- Rubbing (isopropyl) alcohol or Sterno as alternative, both burn clean.

To get started, begin by adding a layer of sand to the base of your tabletop fire bowl.
Since most ceramic or concrete pots have a drainage hole, I placed a flat rock over the opening first.
This simple step keeps the sand contained while still allowing water to drain if the bowl is left outside in the rain.
Once the hole is covered, pour in enough sand to create a stable, even base.
Then place your metal can in the center and place more sand around the can to help anchor the metal can and set the foundation for your diy tabletop fire bowl.
Once your base is set, finish off by adding decorative rocks on top of the sand.
