Start with Greenery That Works with Your TV
When decorating a Christmas mantel with a TV, it’s essential to choose greenery that enhances the space without interfering with functionality.
If you decide to place greenery on top of your mantel opt for low-profile garlands or pine boughs that won’t obstruct the screen or the remote functions.
As I said before, that was a problem for me in previous year.
But this year, the mantle top around the TV sensors is clear by beautifully draping a garland on the front of the mantle.
Hang a Garland without Nails or Hooks
Hanging a garland on your Christmas mantel doesn’t have to mean damaging your mantel with nails or hooks.
Instead, use 3M Command Cord Bundlers for a secure, damage-free solution.
These handy clips are designed to hold cords but work perfectly for keeping garlands in place.
Simply attach them to the mantel surface, loop the garland through, and enjoy a festive look without the worry of leaving permanent marks.
Plus, they’re easy to remove when the season is over!
This approach allows you to enjoy a festive Christmas mantel, while keeping the TV fully functional for your favorite holiday movies or shows.
This year I purchased a realistic Norfolk pine garland and I’m loving it!

For a fuller look, I hung two garlands.

Layer Your Garland for Depth and Texture
Layering your garland is a great way to add depth and texture to your Christmas mantel decor.
Start with a basic garland as your foundation, then build upon it by adding items like:
- eucalyptus stems
- a variety pine stems
- pinecones
- faux berries
- string lights
- ribbon
- small ornaments
- sparkly crystal strands
For my Christmas mantel, I first attached small mercury glass ornaments to a chain and draped it across my pine garland.
Seeking a bit more sparkle, I sifted through a box of vintage chandelier parts, linked the crystals into one long strand, and delicately draped them along the garland.
I believe the shimmer and charm provide the perfect touch for a more cottagecore-inspired mantel.
Layering not only creates a more visually interesting mantel, but also allows you to mix different textures and elements, making your mantel feel fuller and more appealing without overwhelming the space.

Embellish Your Garland with Elegant Bows
Embellishing your garland with elegant bows adds a festive and charming look to your Christmas mantel.
For an elegant look choose bows in luxurious fabrics like velvet or satin, and match them to your color scheme.
In keeping with my refined cottage vibe, I choose frayed velvet ribbons and layered it with vintage lace.
And for a little added texture I tucked in a few pheasant feathers.
This simple addition enhances the overall elegance of your mantel and brings extra holiday charm.
Stocking Hung on the Mantel with Care
No Christmas mantel is complete without stockings hanging with care.
For a touch of elegance, I used iron stocking holders and attached them with frayed blue velvet ribbon, adding a vintage charm.
Each stocking is embellished with delicate vintage lace and brooches, bringing a nostalgic feel to the Christmas mantel.

Create Symmetry on the Mantel Top
Create symmetry on your mantel by balancing items on either side of your TV.
Place candlesticks, lanterns, or small pine trees in matching pairs for a cohesive look.
You can also add vintage vases or silver-plate teapots and pitchers as I did to enhance the design.
To create varying heights with my teapots, I used books to elevate a couple of them and them draped with with vintage doilies.
And to add a little height on each side of the mantle, I placed faux Norfolk pine boughs in each pitcher.
The addition of the stocking on the left side of the mantle balance the two silver-plate teapots and pitcher on the the right.
This simple arrangement brings balance and visual appeal to your Christmas mantel without overpowering the TV.
Elevate the Look with Digital Art on the TV
Enhance your Christmas mantel by turning your TV into a display for digital art—no more bulky black box dominating the space.
With digital art, you can easily showcase festive scenes, holiday landscapes, or cozy fireplace animations, turning your TV into a beautiful part of the decor.
It’s simple to do with a smart TV or a Roku stick.
Simply go to YouTube, search for Christmas TV art and choose a design that fits your Christmas style.
Now I don’t have the TV on 24 hours a day, but when we have guest over, it’s easy to select a scene or two and make my TV look like it’s a piece of art.
Now all I need is to make a beautiful frame for my TV!
It’s a simple solution that adds charm to your mantel while keeping your TV functional, creating a stylish and festive mood.
