What is a Woodland Themed Baby Shower?
If you’re looking for a gender-neutral and nature inspired party, why not try throwing an unforgettable woodland baby shower – that’s guaranteed to make your guests say “Awww!”
Woodland parties are all about embracing the beauty of nature, with rich earthy colors and enchanting forest animals.
To help you get started on party planning for this special event, choose from natural hues such as earthy browns and shades of greens, yellows – pick any color you’d find in nature!
Bring in natural elements like tree clippings, pine boughs, pinecones and mossy balls.
And when selecting the menu, get creative and make it feel like you’ve entered an enchanted forest.
With these delightful ideas under your belt (and some creativity), there’ll be no stopping what kind of enchanted gathering you can put together.
Hosting it outside is even more magical as everyone can connect with Mother Nature herself.
Woodland Themed Invitation
The first step to planning a woodland-themed baby shower is the invitations.
Use your imagination and create an enchanting invite that will let your guests know exactly what kind of party it’s going to be!
You can find adorable template designs online, or you can make your own.
After an online search I found these adorable watercolor images of baby woodland animals from Dainty Deer Clipart on Etsy.
Not only are they perfect for creating one-of-a-kind invitations, but you’ll also see we used these images for a bunting and decor on the tables.

The next step to planning a woodland-themed baby shower is finding the perfect location.
If possible, hold your event outdoors in a secluded spot so you can create the perfect atmosphere for your guests.
Luckily the weather was warm enough to hold our woodland themed baby shower outside in my aunts backyard surrounded by beautiful trees.
Of course you can also opt for an indoor option if the weather won’t cooperate.
Woodland Themed Baby Shower Decorations
Once you’ve chosen a location, it’s time to start thinking about the decorations!
Brainstorm and use what you have.
For tablecloths we used white linen tablecloths with a burlap overlay and then placed a moss mat table runner down the center.
For the centerpieces on the tables, we cut a few leafing branches from the trees and placed them in quart jars.
Think layers as you’re creating a woodland themed baby shower.
Forage for items in your yard, like twigs, seed pods, pinecones and logs.
We even had a few antlers we scattered down the tables.
We printed the woodland animal images we purchased on Etsy and placed them on blocks of wood and scattered them around the tables.
Instead of placing candles on the candlestick, try mossy balls.
Woodland Themed Buffet Table & Food
The woodland theme is carried over at the buffet table with burlap, pinecones, pine boughs, potted plants and seed pods.
Don’t forget about the food!
For your woodland themed buffet table, try a variety of salads, berries, pinwheels and cheeses.
And I loved this fun Hedgehog Cheese Ball from SavortheFlavor.com.
Isn’t that the cutest cheeseball you’ve ever seen!
And for dessert try edible mossy cupcakes.
You can also make acorn cake pops as a fun treat for all of your guests.
Other ideas for the buffet table that would be fun for a woodland themed baby shower are:
- pretzel sticks
- Swiss roll (logs)
- Pirouettes (birch logs)
- Whoppers (deer droppings)
Above the buffet table we hung a woodland themed baby shower bunting.
Again we used the woodland baby animal images we purchased from Dainty Deer Clipart to make the bunting.

Woodland Themed Party Favor
For a special touch, make your own trail mix party favor bags for each of your guests.
You can include items such as nuts, dried fruits, chocolate chips and other fun ingredients.
For our “trail mix” we used chocolate chips, muddy buddies, marshmallows and teddygrahams.
Place them in small cellophane bags with tags that say “Thank you for joining the woodland celebration.”
We also placed another woodland animal image on each tag.
This will be a great way to thank your guests for coming and will be a sweet reminder of the special day.
You can get the recipe for the ‘Smores mix here. We also added the Teddy Grahams
Woodland Themed Baby Shower Games
To keep your guests engaged and entertained, consider adding a few activities such as guess the baby’s birth date, guess how many animal crackers are in the jar, name the baby animal game.
You can also create a memory game with photos of woodland creatures or play woodland-themed charades.
These activities will be sure to bring lots of laughs and make the event even more special.
We had such a great time planning and implementing this woodland themed baby shower.
But we’re even more thrilled to meet this darling new baby boy, Peter!
We’re excited for Heather and her husband Carter to embark on their journey as new parents.
