Woodland Animal Baby Shower

Welcome to another party “Sunny Side” style.  My Mom and I had such a great time gathering ideas and creating unique decor elements and details for this darling Woodland Animal Baby Shower for my cousin Heather.  We chose neutral earth tone colors and were lucky that the weather was warm enough to hold this shower outside in the woodland atmosphere of my aunts backyard.

We designed a couple of images with baby forest animals and used them throughout the shower in a couple of different ways.  Perhaps the most simple yet darling use was to print photos and adhere them to a block of wood cut to size.  We scattered these different animals through the tablescape.

Most of the other decor items were kept pretty basic and simple.  We scattered moss balls, pinecones, small logs, eucalyptus seed pods and branches clipped from the backyard trees throughout the tablescape.

We also had a few small antlers placed throughout the tablescape.  All of which were on top of a moss matt we cut in half to use as the table runner. The tablecloths were burlap that we had used previously for a wedding buffet table.  Many of these are the same items we used to create the St. Patrick’s Day tablescape for my Mom’s St. Patty’s Day Birthday. Click here to see that tablescape.

For a quick and easy party favor, we printed more of the baby forest animal images smaller this time, then using a 1.5″ circle punch we cut them out. We then mounted them on a 1.75″  brown card stock circle, punched a small hole at the top and tied them to our goodie bags with twine and ribbon. We placed them on each table setting prior to the shower to show appreciation to our guests for coming and supporting Heather on her new journey of motherhood.

A homemade S’mores Chex Mix filled their thank you bags.  You can see the recipe we used here.  The only additional ingredient we added to the mix was Teddy Grahams.

For ease in cleanup we opted to use paper plates.  We layered them on top of these darling grey faux wood chargers we found online at Dollar Tree.  We love the way these chargers look and the character they added to the theme of the shower. Currently these chargers are only available for purchase online. We were extremely disappointed the day of the shower however, we had placed our order 2 weeks prior to the shower with confirmation they would arrive on time.  Long story short, we only ended up having 6 for the day of the shower that were not broken.  If you plan to order anything online from Dollar Tree, we would advise ordering well in advance as we had some issues with our order.  Nevertheless, they are darling and you can not beat the price of only $1 per charger.

The buffet table received just as much attention as the table settings.  We lined the table with a white linen tablecloth and placed a large piece of burlap on top to add a rustic and natural look.  Each of the food items were then displayed on wooden stands, platters and bowls as well as simple stainless steel bowls. We embellished the table with fresh blooming plants in rustic baskets along with small logs, pinecones, eucalyptus seed pods and greenery.

We served salads and some of the dishes went along with the woodland theme as well.  There was a Tree Salad aka Broccoli salad,  chocolate cupcakes covered in a moss topping (caramel, dyed green coconut and crushed Nilla wafers), and mini acorn bites (donut holes dipped in chocolate and sprinkles with a pretzel stem).

We also hung a bunting over the food table that said “welcome baby”.  For the bunting we used the same woodland baby animal images atop of each letter.  We then cut them into triangle shapes and stapled them onto a burlap bunting we found at Hobby Lobby.

Having the shower out on the back deck was the perfect spot for this woodland themed baby shower.  Just look at that backdrop!  It was so picturesque and peaceful.

We had such a great time planning, creating the decor and setting up for this baby shower.  We’re even more thrilled to meet this darling new baby boy Peter!  We’re excited for Heather and her husband Carter to embark on their journey as new parents.
