Decoupage Easter Egg Supplies

To create beautiful decoupage Easter eggs, you’ll need just a few simple supplies!

I used floral paper napkins to achieve a charming cottage spring look, but you can customize the look you want with napkins or tissue paper that fit your style.

You’ll also need Easter eggs, I used wooden eggs I had on hand.

However, you can also use papier-mâché eggs or even plastic Easter eggs for this project.

In addition, you’ll need Mod Podge to adhere the napkins, a paintbrush for application, and paint if you want to add a base color to your eggs.

With these materials, you’ll be ready to craft stunning Easter decor in no time!

Paint Eggs

If you want to change the background color of your decoupage Easter eggs, consider painting them first.

Woman paints a wooden Easter egg white.

Since napkins can be slightly transparent, the base color may show through, affecting your final look.

A coat of white or pastel paint can help bright patterns pop, while a darker shade can create a more vintage feel.

Let the paint dry completely before applying the napkins for the best results!

I’m a little impatient when crafting, so I like to speed up the drying process with my hairdryer.

Decoupage Eggs

Now it’s time to decoupage your Easter eggs!

Woman separates the layers of a floral print paper napkin.

Start by carefully separating the layers of your napkin until you’re left with just the top, printed ply.

Most napkins are 2-ply or 3-ply, so be sure to remove the extra layers.

Next, tear around the design you’d like to apply—this helps blend the edges for a seamless look.

Woman applies a thin layer of Mod Podge to a white Easter Egg.

Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge to the egg, then gently place your torn napkin onto the glued area.

Woman brushed Mod Podge over the applied floral napkin layer on an egg.

Using a paintbrush with Mod Podge, smooth out the napkin, pressing it down carefully.

Once it’s in place, brush another thin coat of Mod Podge over the top to seal it.

Let it dry naturally or use a hairdryer to speed up the process.

Repeat until your egg is fully covered in your beautiful design!
