What Do Wreaths Symbolize at Christmas?
Christmas wreaths are a festive and iconic Christmas decoration.
Typically made of evergreen branches or holly, representing everlasting life brought through Jesus Christ and the circular shape of the wreath represents God, with no beginning and no end.
They symbolize the warmth and joy of Christmas, as well as the hope and promise of new beginnings that come with the New Year. i
Whether you make your own wreath from scratch or simply add some Christmas greenery to an existing wreath, this is a great way to add some extra Christmas cheer to your home.

What You’ll Need to Make This Yarn Christmas Wreath
To make this chunky yarn Christmas wreath you’ll need a 16″ and 12″ wire wreath forms, chunky weight yarn, large crochet hook, ribbon, greenery and berry stems.
Crochet Christmas Wreath
First, form a loop with the yarn and insert the crochet hook in the loop.
You will be forming a basic crochet stitch around the wire wreath frame.
This is simple stitch that’s perfect for beginners.
First, form a loop with the yarn and insert the crochet hook in the loop.
Then bring the yarn down across the front of the wreath frame and bring it around the back of the wreath frame.
Now wrap the yarn around the hook and pull through the loop.
Basically, this is a chain stitch, along with wrapping the yarn around the wreath frame with each stitch.
Notice that with each stitch, the skein of yarn will need to be brought across the front of the wreath frame and then brought up the back of the frame and then make the chain stitch.
Repeat this same stitch, bringing the skein of yarn across the front and wrapped around and catch the yarn with the crochet hook.
Continue working this chain stitch around the wire wreath frame.
Once you get into the grove, wrapping the yarn around the wreath frame will become effortless.
Once you’ve gone around entire wreath form, cut the yarn from the skein.
And wrap the tail around the crochet hook and pull through the loop. This will form a knot.
Insert the crochet hook through several loops on the backside of the wreath and pull the tail through.
Repeat with the other tail.
Trim the tails with scissors.
If you want to layer 2 wreath frames together like mine, repeat on the second wire wreath frame.
Embellish Christmas Yarn Wreath
Once both wire wreath frames are covered with chunky yarn, cut a length of yarn and tie the two wreaths together with a knot.
Finally, weave the tails through the backside of the wreath.
Now its time to make the wreath come to life with the embellishments!
To keep this Christmas wreath soft and cozy, I used the same cozy flannel ribbon I used on my Christmas tree and created a bow and secured it with wire.
Then, I secured it to the wreath frames with wire.
Finally it’s time to add the greenery and berries.
I inserted the greenery and red berry picks under the wire that secured the bow.
Last but now least, fluff the bow and make it look pretty.

Certainly, this cozy Christmas wreath created the look I wanted for my home this year.
It’s soft and cozy looking and still has that festive Christmas feel.
But what I love most, when January rolls around I can switch out the embellishments and easily turn it into a winter or Valentine’s Day wreath.
I love it when a wreath can be used for more than one holiday!
Now I’ve got a little bonus for you as well!
