Tips for Decorating the Christmas Tree

White flocked Christmas tree decorated with coastal-nautical ornaments such as; sailboats, colorful buoy garland, burlap ribbon, mini life preservers, seashells, red anchors, blue glitter starfish and navy blue ornaments.

Our first holiday decorating idea is to focus on the Christmas tree.

This is of course the focal point of any holiday decor, so it’s important to make it festive and beautiful.

Let your personality shine as you decorate your Christmas tree.

As you probably know I love a modern coastal look and so that’s reflected in my Christmas tree.

Most of the ornaments on my Christmas tree are handmade, which made them very affordable.

For instance my buoy garland is made from painted styrofoam balls, electrical tape and rope.

You’ll also find on my tree, life preservers made from round frames and electrical tape, along with wooden anchors painted red.

While I do have traditional ornament balls on my tree, you’ll also find glitter starfish ornaments as well as seashells.

It’s unique, fun and and you get to know a little about me.

Handmade personalized ornaments are a fun way to make your tree unique too.

Or try simple glitter ball ornaments.

Hand crafted ornaments and decorations are both personal and festive.

Another idea that would be fun on your Christmas tree are handwritten notes, family photos, or some vintage items from a loved one.

My mom created ornaments using her grandma’s vintage costume jewelery.

And one more item I love to add to my Christmas tree is ribbon.

It’s a quick and easy way to totally change the look of your tree without spending a lot of money.

So get creative and have fun decorating your tree for the holidays.
