If you’re looking for a simple and charming fall project, this acorn craft is just what you need!
As fall rolls around, one of our favorite activities is foraging for acorns.
Our area is rich with scrub oak trees, making it easy to gather these little fall treasures.
In fact, there’s an abundant supply in my parents backyard!
I also love finding them along the hiking trails in our area, where our mountains put on a magnificent display!
While the acorns are fun to display as is, today we’ll share how pairing real acorn caps with felted wool balls creates beautiful faux acorns that are perfect for decorating your home this autumn.
Whether you add them to a centerpiece, turn them into a simple garland or displaying them in a decorative bowl, this easy acorn craft brings a cozy, handmade touch to your seasonal decor.

Acorn Craft Supplies:
To create this simple acorn craft, you’ll need just a few materials: real acorn caps, colorful felted wool balls, and a glue gun.
The acorn caps add an authentic touch to your project, while the felted wool balls come in a variety of vibrant colors that bring a playful, cozy feel to your faux acorns.
A glue gun makes it easy to attach the wool balls securely inside the caps, creating adorable acorns that are perfect for decorating your home this fall.
Lucky for us we found a large bag of felted wool ball garlands at Goodwill for only $3.99!
Can you believe that?!
We snagged it right up, knowing we’d find some way to use them.
But felted wool balls are readily available on Amazon and you may also find a seller in your area on Facebook marketplace.
If foraging for acorn caps is not a possibility, you can purchase them on Amazon too.

Shape Wool Ball
To shape the felted wool ball into a perfect acorn form, start by lightly dampening your hands with water.
Then, take the wool ball and roll it between your palms.
The moisture will help the fibers soften and become more pliable, allowing you to elongate the ball into an acorn-like shape.
Keep rolling and adjusting until it tapers slightly at one end, resembling a natural acorn.

Attach Acorn Cap
Attaching the acorn cap to the wool ball is the final step to complete your faux acorn craft.
Start by placing a small dab of hot glue inside the acorn cap.
Then, carefully press the top of your shaped wool ball into the cap, holding it in place for a few seconds until the glue sets.
The hot glue will bond the two pieces securely, creating a charming little acorn ready for your fall display.
These cozy and colorful acorns are so quick and easy to make, in a matter of minutes you’ll have plenty to add to your fall decorations.
